Since its founding in 1948, Evergreen's volunteer fire department has evolved from an organization of men dedicated to extinguishing fires to a cadre of men and women who respond to emergencies ranging from structure fires to drownings and crashes to wildfires. Evergreen Fire Rescue offers non-emergency services to its community as well, including CPR courses, space for community meetings, participation in community events and station tours.

Led by Chief Garry DeJong and the Board of Directors of the Evergreen Fire Protection District, EFR consists of six divisions: AdministrationCommunicationsEmergency Medical Services (EMS)Fire OperationsFire Prevention, and Maintenance. The personnel of each division are commited to providing exceptional service to its community of residents, business owners, employees and visitors.
