Evergreen Fire Rescue’s Communications Center handles several thousand emergency related calls each year. For example, in 2005 we received 5,400 One of the most important services we offer -- both to our own customers and to neighboring fire departments -- is EMD (emergency medical dispatch), where dispatchers coach 911 callers through an emergency and instruct them how to perform life-saving first aid until our crews arrive. Because we staff our communications center with two-EMD certified dispatchers 24/7, we meet the standards of service set by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials and the National Fire Protection Association. Additionally, Evergreen Fire Rescue Dispatcher Christy McCormick, our EMD Coordinator, is the Training Chairperson for EMD of Colorado. |
